Ergo Insulated White Single Brood Box Beehive Set

Our Single Brood Box Beehive set is the base for all the Ergo PLUS hives we offer at Apimaye. All our 10 frame hives are shipped as single box hive (this hive). This means they have all the features, including the insulation, screen bottom board with pollen trap, queen excluder, top feeders, and 1 division board.

Ideal For:

New beekeepers who start beekeeping by buying package bees or nucs (Short for nucleus colonies). Bees will build the combs and fill it up with honey and brood in about 2-3 weeks. Keep in mind that it is difficult to maintain the colony in a single box hive. The colony will swarm when it get strong and congested. Therefore you need to either divide the colony to prevent swarming or need to buy supers of your choice.

Product Notes

  • Superior summer performance in extreme summer heat since white is the most reflecting color.
  • The price will change as the frame and foundation options are chosen.
  • If you'd like to know more about our different frame options, you can read our blog post here, and decide which option is the best for you.
  • Entrance color choices are purely for aesthetics, but if you have a large apiary with Apimaye hives, we'd suggest you mix and match the entrance colors to make it easier for the bees :)

Standard features from top to bottom:

  • Insulated hive top cover
  • Top feeder (Half Feeder) (1 gallon capacity) or optional Dual Feeder
  • 1 White insulated deep brood box
  • Screened bottom board with pollen trap and drawer
  • Multi functional slot
  • 1 Division/uniting board for brood
  • Queen excluder
  • 2 Frame spacers
  • Side latches and handles

    Huge difference in northern Michigan

I started with the seven frame nuc hives, which have been amazing. This past year I wanted to compare a 10 frame propola hybrid hive vs an apimaye ergo hive. Granted not the same bees (golden west in ergo, caucasions in the propola). Both are still alive and well so far but thanks to broodminder sensors I can tell the ergo hive is doing much better due to a steady temperature reading. This is with a double deep set up with the vent on the upper box open. The propola hybrid hive on the other hand for sure has a much smaller cluster and temperature variance is extremely high. My goal is to add at least 2-3 more ergo hives to my apiary this coming season.

Once you begin using these hives you’ll never go back to woodware. Well constructed. Easy timesaver design. Outstanding value.

    Perfect boxes for "older" beekeeper

Theseboxes have allowed a 72 year old beekeeper to continue keeping Bees! the weight is so much easier to handle, and the handles have allowed for greater ease in moving heavier honey laden boxes.

It is the Audi of beehives!!!

I was quite skeptical of the whole “keeping your bees in something outside of wood”, vibe going around but, too be fair, I thought why not see what it is about and give it a try. Anyway, my expectations were blown away. This beastly piece is Ft. Knox sturdy, comes with so many options and configurations, comes assembled, the possibilities are limitless. In these times of varroa with boots on ground, pesticide usage and loss of forage, and that gnawing feeling of an existential crisis on the horizon, Apimaye has brought a fresh breath of excitement for this mediocre beekeeper’s journey! Can’t thank you guys enough!!!

The hives are well worth the money and they stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. It is easier to feed them to.
