I use the 7 frame to house small splits or swarms, had an early split this year with a very productive queen and decided to purchase the 7 frame super - but, it doesn’t come with queen excluder 🤷🏼♀️. I like to keep the queen out of supers for first honey harvest, after fall flow, I keep at least 50% of honey frames on the hives for winter supplement. I remove the excluder during the winter months and center honey frames over brood.
