Okay…for us beekeepers that have been doing this a while, even for personal use, with 6-12 hives, dealing with (5) gallon buckets gets old. Gate valves aren’t made for round buckets, and (4) gallon buckets aren’t made for gate valves. Likewise the lids aren’t made for honey, they are awkward to lift full of honey with that wire handle, and iffy to stack. That’s just a few of the main complaints. These solve all those problems. Yes, on these you end up with about 8-10# of honey in the bottom and have to do the tilt/lean thing, but they have flat sides so they don’t roll. The gate valve on these are the best I’ve used too. I’m all for the home grown “make do with what you got” low budget ideas, but it is amazing how innovation for purpose produced products can make life easier and more value added. Okay, it costs more, but at my age I’m starting to look at value and ease of operation. I got to fill one early this year with 90+#, and being able to balance side to side with two handles made it soooo much easier to lift and move around than with a 5 gallon buckets with far less weight. I’ll never use anyone elses hives again. Just too many positives and no negatives for me in the last 6-8 years since I started switching all my gear over. Thanks, and keep up the great innovative work!!! TDH
