We started beekeeping last year, purchased Apimaye hives, and we’ve been happy and learning tons. This year, we decided to expend to a second hive. Little did we know we would have a swarm. Fortunately we had a second brood box from Apimaye, so I caught the swarm and now we have two hives. BUT, a week later, we had a secondary swarm. Who knew?!? Created a makeshift brood box using cardboard for the top and bottom, and immediately ordered a hive kit. Wow…all I want going forward is hive kits and supers, because now we have all kinds of flexibility for future swarms. And, I should note, the top feeder improvements are fantastic! Our three hives are now active and doing well. Highly recommend this kit!

The frames are great. They are good for a lot of reasons. First, I actually love them even more when I do a removal. I can pinch the brood comb in the frames I get from the feral hive in the frames. Beats rubber bands.

In my hives I also use them. The thing I like about them more in the hives is the ears, honestly. Wood gets propolized so badly. It feels like you’re trying to yank out a nail driven in wood sometimes. The ears are shaped as such that they minimize contact with the box. So, though they get propolis like any other frames, the amount is substantially less because the surface area is less.

In addition, the spots where frames touch are minimal. They come to points instead of being squared. Again, minimal contact between the frames, makes them easy to get apart. All this makes them easier to maneuver and inspect. It’s also less disturbance to the bees because the frames don’t “pop” and just ease apart. Bee keeping is hard enough, with these frames, you can mitigate some of the needless struggle.

Lastly, Pierco makes a wonderful foundation. It’s the only foundation I have gotten that is hive ready. No need to rewax because of poor wax coating by the maker. They actually properly coat the foundation. This saves time and mess and is worth the extra expense to me. I am good to not have to make a mess waxing foundation I just bought.

Working very well. I have it as a honey super this year and hope it will make a difference. Would like to get a bottom board for it next year and transition to mediums for honey supers. overall very pleased

It really is a game changer to step down to the 7 frame size. So much simpler using less frames whether your splitting, raising queens, honey harvesting, or just everyday beekeeping. I have both 7 and 10 frame Apimayes, but here on out it will be only 7’s that I purchase if for no other reason the less heavy lifting.

Just went to install my first hive today the bees seem to like it well. They took right to it. Will buy another hive if I decide to expand

We started our first 2 hives using the upgrade kit and were so impressed that we now have 17 hives using the upgrade. We caught a swarm today and had to use the standard bottom board. Already ordered another upgrade kit for #18

Bought (2) so far, easy to use, makes feeding the bees easy without exposing them to the elements. Very sturdy design and will absolutely be buying more of these.

I won a 7 frame with top, bottom and feeders. I used it for a swarm. They took to it, so I bought another deep and a medium. Great hive. Plenty of ventilation which is important down here in Southern Alabama. I love the top feeder. I can feed and not disturb the hive and it doesn’t drip or leak like a quart jar feeder. I do sometimes get ants or Asian cockroaches up there, but easy to squish.
My only complaint is my frame holder won’t hang over the box, the frame holder is too narrow.

I will be buying another set!

Really like these frames. Prefer them to the PRO frames in normal situation. Foundation inserts better. No divider bars.
